The letter goes on to urge players not to use these services and report those known to be using them and determine the measures taken to try to push back the tide. But as Clough puts it, while the staff sinks significant time and money into fighting the problem, it's fighting an opponent whose only business goal is to get back into the game. It's grim news for the game's players, certainly, and it doesn't bode well for the many other games waging the same battles . Kill player to player trading and you kill gold/loot farming, auction house monoplies and gold spam. Yeah it sucks but if you can't use an auction house or physicaly swap items with other players you can't sell them anything.

Return to a gameplay style were players have to earn all of their rewards by playing the game themselves. No third party buying or trading at all. @tooright

I swear you post this in almost everything Massively puts up about f2p or a sub game going f2p.

Sub model is basically a dead breed. The only reason Bioware is pumping SWtOR is because the IP itself will generate a ton of box sales to cover that 200 million they dumped into making it. A freemium model would never bring them that much since a majority of the money will be made of box sales. Then as people realize it is just WoW in space with sparkle ton-tons they will leave and go back to WoW.

Most companies can't turn a profit with the sub models now. WoW is a behemoth that sucks every sub up. "Freemium" allows them to keep a game running that normally wouldn't last that long, AND it brings them a lot more revenue.

Go back to the barrens and troll there. Gold farming is a capitalist endeavor, boiling down to the basic principles of supply and demand. As long as demand for the product exists, there will be people out there seeking to fill that demand.

No matter how hard you try, you're not going to succeed in killing gold farming by going after the sellers. Unfortunately, all these developers keep taking an approach of punishing the sellers while merely appealing to the buyers. And they wonder why the market continues?
