Neuwied – TRW Automotive Aftermarket hat das europäische Stoßdämpfergeschäft von ArvinMeritor übernommen. Die Übernahme enthält sowohl die bekannte Stoßdämpfermarke Gabriel, als auch den französischen Produktionsstandort Bonneval. “Dieser Schritt unterstützt unsere Corner-Module-Strategie. Unter diesem neuen Begriff haben wir alle Komponenten eines vollständigen Fahrwerksystems – Bremse, Lenkung, Aufhängung sowie Stoßdämpfer – zusammengefasst. TRW ist nun der einzige Anbieter im Markt, der diese Produktbereiche komplett und aus einer Hand abdeckt”, erklärt Francois Augnet, Vice President Global Parts und Service von TRW Aftermarket.
TRW wird in Frankreich auch weiterhin Stoßdämpfer der Marken Gabriel und TRW produ¬zieren und im unabhängigen Ersatzteilmarkt vermarkten und vertreiben. “Mit der Übernahme des Stoßdämpfergeschäfts baut TRW seine Position als führender Teilehersteller weiter aus. In Verbindung mit dem enormen Know-how des französischen Werks bei Stoßdämpfern steckt in dieser Kombination noch großes Wachstumspotenzial”, so Augnet.
Auch Antonio Castillo, General Manager von Gabriel Europe S.A.S., sieht die Übernahme positiv: “TRW hat die Wirtschaftskrise gemeistert wie fast kein anderes Unternehmen. Daher haben wir den richtigen Partner gewonnen. Wir sind froh, dass sich TRW für die Marke Gabriel als weiteres Produktangebot entschieden hat. Und weil der der Standort Bonneval als strategische Produktionsstätte bestehen bleibt zeigt, dass wir den richtigen Fokus auf Produkttechnik und Produktqualität gelegt haben.”
Seit Oktober 2007 führen TRW und ArvinMeritor ein Joint Venture zur Vermarktung und zum Vertrieb der Stoßdämpfer-Marken Gabriel und TRW auf dem europäischen Ersatzteilmarkt. Im Januar 2009 hatte ArvinMeritor angekündigt, sich von seinem Stoßdämpfer-Geschäft für Pkw und leichte Nutzfahrzeuge zu trennen, um sich voll auf das Lkw-Geschäft zu konzentrieren. Im September 2010 dann unterschrieben beide Unternehmen eine Absichtserklärung, das TRW das Joint-Venture-Unternehmen nach Ende der Vertragslaufzeit übernimmt.
